Accessibility
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Songcry is built so people can find artists rising in their own city. That should be true for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, who need larger text, who navigate without precise touch, or who rely on captions.
We are not finished. This page says plainly where we are today, what we know does not work yet, and how to reach a person if something blocks you.
1. What this covers
This statement covers the Songcry app and this website at songcry.app.
2. Conformance status
We are working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium. Mobile apps are measured against the same guidelines.
Songcry is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the product do not fully conform to the standard. We would rather tell you that than publish a claim we cannot back.
3. Known limitations, and what to do instead
These are the limitations we already know about. We are listing them because you deserve to know before you hit one, not after.
- Text size. The app does not yet follow the text size you have set on your device. If you have made system text larger, Songcry will still show its own size.
- Screen readers. Parts of the app do not yet work well with a screen reader. The main music feed is the weakest area, because it is built around swiping through full screen video and audio. Many buttons that show only an icon do not yet announce what they do.
- Artist uploads. Artists upload their own cover art, photos and video. Those images carry no text description, so a screen reader cannot tell you what is in them, and those videos carry no captions or subtitles, so you cannot read what is said in them. We do not currently require artists to add either, and we do not generate them.
- Motion and audio. Songs begin playing on their own as you move through the feed, and video plays with them.
- This website. We are reviewing it against the same standard and will report what we find here.
If one of these blocks you, email us and we will get you there another way. We can describe an artist's page or a song's artwork for you, tell you what is in a video, or help you finish something in the app that you cannot finish on your own. That is not a workaround we are proud of, and it is better than leaving you stuck while we fix the real thing.
If you hit something that is not on this list, it is not that we decided it was acceptable. It is that we have not found it yet, and we would like you to tell us.
4. Compatibility, and what we have actually tested
We test the Songcry app on iPhone with VoiceOver.
Songcry is also on Android. We have not yet tested the Android app with TalkBack, so we cannot tell you how well it works with a screen reader there. If you use TalkBack and something blocks you, please tell us.
We have not yet tested with Voice Control, with a Braille display, with Switch Control, or on iPad. This website has not yet been tested with a screen reader. We are telling you what we have not done rather than letting the list above imply we checked everything.
5. How we assessed this
We assessed Songcry ourselves. We have not had an independent accessibility audit, and nothing on this page should be read as one.
What is on this page comes from reading our own code, from measuring colour contrast, and from using the accessibility tools Apple and Google provide. When that changes, and when an outside assessment happens, we will say so here and date it.
6. What we are doing about it
We are working through this in the order that removes the most friction first:
- Reviewing the app with a screen reader and writing down every barrier we find.
- Labelling the buttons that currently announce nothing.
- Making the app follow your device text size.
- Checking colour contrast across the app and this site.
- Designing a proper way through the music feed for people who do not swipe, which is the hardest part and the one we will not rush.
7. Tell us about a barrier
If something in Songcry stops you, email [support@songcry.app](mailto:support@songcry.app).
It helps if you can tell us:
- What you were trying to do.
- Where in the app or on the site it happened.
- What device you were using, and whether you had a screen reader, larger text, or another assistive tool turned on.
We read every one of these and we will get back to you. If a fix is going to take a while, we will tell you what we are doing and where it stands.
We treat these reports as a priority rather than as feedback, because a barrier means someone cannot use the product at all.
8. Changes to this statement
We will update this page as we fix things and as we find new problems, and the "Last updated" date above will change with it. We will not remove a limitation from section 3 until it is actually fixed.
